| What is an Electronic Pet? |
“Electronic Pet” is the term to describe an interactive and/or robotic creature. They are commonly considered and marketed as toys, though they have many other practical uses in care homes, special needs centres and schools. They have been proven to comfort and aid people with disorders such as Autism and Dementia and are also beneficial to people who are unable to keep live animals. Electronic pets are available in a wide range of sizes and price ranges, from small cuddly animals with simple “touch sensors” to fully robotic pets with artificial intelligence. The first electronic pets were developed in the late 80s, and performed basic tasks. Electronic pets gained worldwide popularity with the release of Furby in 1998, and have been advancing ever since. |

| Our Mission |
ElectronicPets.org is a resource site where you can compare vital information on all electronic pets, including those that are rare or discontinued. Far from being just toys, electronic pets can be used as therapeutic tools and aid communication and learning. Having all information to hand will aid parents, kids, collectors, care homes and schools decide which electronic pets are best suited for their particular needs.
We aim to provide information such as technical details, reviews, photos and videos on all electronic pets that have ever been released. Manufacturers tend to release a product for a year or two, and then discontinue it completely. This means that many electronic pets are no longer available to purchase, despite the fact they may still be in high demand. If the pet you want is unavailable, each pet listing allows you to see recommendations for suitable alternatives. For organisations, Electronic Pets Ltd is able to offer a tailored service to help you choose and source a range of electronic pets that will meet your needs. |
