Insect Cage Gallery |
| The Insect Cage Gallery from Tomy is a fun novelty desktop accessory. Each cage has a small plastic insect positioned inside it, amongst realistic surroundings including plants and twigs. Switch it on and a small light will glow on, the insect will make chirruping noises and its wings will flap. The insects are shown in great detail and the sounds are extremely real, producing a calming and exotic outdoors atmosphere. There are three different species of insects to collect, plus a frog version. |

| Analysis by ElectronicPets.org: |
|
"The Insect Cage Gallery was initially developed in Japan (of course!) by Takara Tomy, and is one of the whacky gadgety toys from Takara that actually managed to secure European distribution. There is almost no interaction involved (just switching it on or off), however if someone were thinking of keeping a real cricket or grasshopper as a pet, there wouldn't be much interaction involved with that either - it's mainly about how it looks, with an insect tank being a point of interest in a living room or on a desk. The Insect Cage Gallery provides a nice feeling of nature and being outdoors when you switch it on, with a soft mesmerising light and realistic sounds and wing movements, and so although it would never come near to being a replacement for a large pet, it may provide a good trouble-free alternative for someone looking to keep exotic insects for their looks only."
