| Poo-Chi the Interactive Puppy is a clever little robotic canine. He sings, plays games and has an animated head, ears, legs and mouth. Just like a real puppy, Poo-Chi can stand, sit or dance on his tiptoes. He also senses light, sound and touch. Poo-Chi uses infra-red technology to communicate and interact with other Poo-Chi and Robo-Chi pets. Because this robotic pup is so lifelike, he needs extra love and plenty of food, so don't forget to feed him his special bone! The more he is cared for, the happier he will be. Poo-Chi uses advanced bio-rhythmic technology to create realistic emotional responses that adapt and change as he is played with. His big expressive eyes LED let owners know whether he's happy or sad, and his moods are determined by the 8 different biorhythm levels. |

• 1999 - Poo-Chi dog designed by artist Samuel James Lloyd and co-developed by Japan's Sega Toys and USA's Tiger Electronics (a division of Hasbro) following the success of Furby.
• 2000 (Apr) - Poo-Chi released in the USA and Europe after huge success in Japan (over 100,000 sold in less than 3 hours).
• 2000 (Summer) - "Meow-Chi" interactive Cat released, being one of many more pets to be added to the Robo-Chi range.
• 2001 (Feb) - A range of Robo-Chi McDonalds Happy Meal toys was released, including Poo-Chi, Meow-Chi, Chirpy-Chi and many others.

"Poo-Chi was one of the first affordable interactive/robotic dogs to be released to the mass market, and it enjoyed commercial success after Tiger Electronics' "Furby", the huge phenomenon of the late 1990s. Poo-Chi was designed to look like a robotic dog rather than a lifelike one so it's not realistic, but it more than makes up for that with its numerous interactive features and various personalities/moods. At the time of its release Poo-Chi was seen as having quite advanced technology - although the technology is no longer cutting-edge and the Poo-Chi now has a bit of a "vintage charm" about it, its features and functions are still very relevant today, and modern-day toy developers could still learn a thing or two from it."
